The Legend
MahaLakshmi
The story of the goddess MahaLakshmi is not only one of blessings — of wealth and abundance. RHATHA presents MahaLakshmi through her long devotion: years of austerity, every other desire set aside, so that she might touch the dust of Krishna's lotus feet. MahaLakshmi stands for “perseverance that never abandons what is beloved.” The Srimad Bhagavatam tells how Sri performed austerities for a long time, renounced every other wish and kept her vow unwavering, longing to touch the dust of Krishna's lotus feet. Her story speaks of resolve, of patience, and of devotion to what she longed for above all. It is not a story of “trying to make someone your own,” but of faith, of perseverance, and of never letting go of what is precious in the heart. For what we call “love” may not mean possession — it may mean the resolve to draw ever closer to what we believe in and hold most dear.
